A long weekend away, whether planned or spontaneous, is an awesome way to explore a new city or reacquaint yourself with an old favorite. If you’ve caught the travel bug but you’re short on time, here are some of our favorite locations across the nation for a short summer getaway:

Nashville is known for its live music, particularly at iconic venues like the Ryman Auditorium and the Bluebird Cafe. Natural gas and oil help facilitate the live performances at these locations by assisting in the creation of musical instruments and other audio and performance equipment that musicians need.

Nashville is also home to Gibson Guitars, known around the world for their well-constructed instruments, popular with professional and novice musicians alike. Gibson’s corporate headquarters are located in Nashville, but you can also take your guitar in for a tune up at Gibson Repair and Restoration. Many parts of modern guitars are synthetic, from the nylon strings to the glue that holds the guitar’s neck and body together, to the shiny finish.

Portland is a coffee lover’s dream, with plenty of independent coffee shops throughout the city. Some popular cafes include: Barista, Case Study Coffee, Courier Coffee Roasters,  Spella Caffe and Good Coffee. Harvesting coffee beans relies heavily on natural gas and oil, as the machinery that washes, pulps, sorts, rinses, mills, dries and separates coffee beans runs on oil. Coffee roasters and grinders are also powered by natural gas and oil.

If you love to be near the water, Nantucket is the place for you. There is something for everyone, whether you want to enjoy the water in a fiberglass or kevlar boat or if you want to sample the island’s many tasty food options. It will come as no surprise that the seafood in Nantucket is not to be missed. Lobster rolls, fish and chips, Nantucket Bay scallops, clam chowder, oysters and more are all on the menu in numerous restaurants and markets all over the island. The fresh seafood you’ll encounter here is courtesy of the many fisherman that have made Nantucket their home for generations, and natural gas and oil help keep the fishing industry running. For years, fishing boats were made of wood, but now, lightweight and durable fiberglass is more common. Fisherman often wear lightweight, soft, and flexible bibs with a PVC layer while on the job, and they pull in their catch using nylon nets. Here are some of our favorite seafood spots that are sure to please the whole family.

Home to the Art Basel art show, Miami is an incredible destination for art collectors and creators alike. The assortment of art through the city at museums and galleries is vast. Artists working in various mediums often employ synthetic materials like fiberglass installations, fabric made of synthetic fibers and artwork colored using acrylic paints.
